My brother and I made a 3 disc volume of the "more rocking GBV songs" to try and pacify my (now) ex-wife into putting up with a Highway 1 California road trip that featured mass Guided by Voices. Not sure she really dug it, but it operates now as an amazing box-set type collection for when I don't want to hear the

Man Called Aerodynamics is one of the "densest" sounding GBV tunes, kicks off Under the Bushes in grand fashion….well chosen for any reaching Motorhead comparisons.
ZMF is out of her league stepping into a Pollard/GBV conversation. Really.

I also concur that Alien Lanes might be the better entry point. Hell yeah, classics out the wazoo, indeed!
You would then easily move on to Bee Thousand, Mag Earwhig, Under the Bushes, Earthquake Glue, and many many more………..

Ryan Reynolds was great as Billy on "Fifteen"…
….but he fuckng sucked at drums.

SDRE at the Ogden on 21 September?
Then I'm at the Ogden on 21 September.

I'm thinking Ballston Spa myself….

Quik
….kicking hard like a donkey.
….way 2 fonky.

Titty Slickers 2 "The Legend of Curly's Load"

"How it Feels…" is my favorite by a long bit, and I was down pretty heavily from the first record on.
As many have already done here, pretty difficult to resist using the word "epic" in describing its overall sound and feeling.

Grounds for Divorce is so good it sounds good even when it is playing through my shitty laptop tweeters.

Please….
…don't take the print version out of Denver.

As much as the Romantics would suck later, the Tell it to Carrie 12" is pretty damn good (and power poppy)

shoes
I remember buying my first Shoes record way back when…

It's not good. But that is a pretty sweet frontside grind….

Rose Tattoo are cool

One cannot deny the awesomeness of Giants Chair I agree.
Love(d) the artwork of the two albums as well. Very handmade vibe.

Crimpshrine is spelled Crimpshrine not Crimpshire
…and i'm pretty geeked about this collaboration.
Jawbreaker was a pretty huge part of my mid-90's SF music life. The records have aged (with me) pretty well.

Tumblers better than plumpers….

I still have that Rev promo version of Deserter's Songs. Doesn't fit in my CD racks vertically…

always seemed odd that Rusk wouldn't reissue the Necros stuff legitimately on T & G….
