I think his prose is wonderful but somehow his stories tend to be lacking for me. And sometimes the characters fall flat for me too.

My father rented it for me in the mid 90's after I read about it in a newspaper column talking about it as an alternative to other popular Christmas movies. The fact that it's an overplayed institution now makes me feel very old.

In theory, I really shouldn't have liked Vanilla Sky at all b/c it had a bunch of actors I don't like directed by Cameron Crowe in an American remake of a foreign movie. Now I'm wondering if I should rewatch it to see if my love holds up. And I still listen to music from the soundtrack which is probably what CC wanted…
