I just loved how absolutely no finger was to be seen at the point of being cut off. They had the shot, but just didn't bother with a fake finger.

Both shows are also partly about identity as the big underlying theme. I also immediately thought of Dollhouse. As much as they are different, they do have some core similarities that make this show feel more familiar to me than it otherwise would have.
