Loved it
This book went down smoothly (which was a relief after my December readings of Pynchon and Lovecraft), was really clever and funny, and was full of truths about life.

There are definitely some hilarious moments in the book (I laughed aloud at a few anyway) and King's "Hilarious" might have been cut out of a longer, more specific comment, right?

I certainly felt that I was standing in the doorways of these offices peeking in and listening to Benny's stories along with the gang, so for me at least, Ferris was very successful with his "subtle use of second person."

Karen Woo isn't well rounded or sympathetic in the slightest, but I believed in her every word and action.

I liked that
very much like joining a new work place, at first I read the little stories about the characters without knowing who they were and getting their names and stories confused, and then I got to know them all a little bit but not too much and without investing too much in any of them.

The scenes that included Tom or people talking about Tom were the liveliest in the book. He's a great, flawed character who really struggles and screws up and does some awful things, but he's always living and learning and is right on with a lot of what he says. I didn't buy his going postal even as a practical

The OED traces "finna" back to Chicago circa the mid 2000s and the only known user of the word, Kanye West.

I went to prom in Canada. It was OK (sweet, sweet poutine), but they were required to play Life is a Highway as 35% of the music that night.

God had his chance and he came up with carved up rocks. Fuck that.

Eagles are allergic to coconut. Solved.

When I was in high school, I could only afford a Fender Squier (and used at that), which apparently come from cranes from Yomi, which according to wikipedia is "the shadowy land where cheap shit is made."

Yes, but Sayles' original script was about a union uprising in a mining town before the Hollywood butchers got to it. Interestingly, the script's central message survived.

Agreed. This guy was pretty good as Che, but why would anyone think he'd be the right person to direct an overly long epic about the little guy's quest to defeat a giant monster?

Right on!
I, for one, celebrate our new alien overlords, and commend their speech writers on what can only be described as true poetry.

Agree on Baghead, but I think Puffy Chair delivers for the full 90 min.

Bifurcated!
Oh snap! You just pissed that one dude off, Rabin.

What, Jared Leto wasn't available?

Yes, no way Siegel would blatantly rip off someone else's idea **cough**King of Comedy**cough**

Obviously, the best way to dodge the "gimmick" criticism is to make the collective voice the central theme to the book. Not only is it not a gimmick, but it's essential; it's the core. Awesome idea and well executed.
