See season six, 'The Gilmore Girls.' The key is how the network changes show runners. If the previous runner hands the show off to people who've worked on the show or is someone that runner recommended, the continuity of the show usually continues. But if the show runner is fired, well, look out.

What a fantastic episode of Television. That first 20 minutes was as good as any season of 24. Personally, this was LOST season 4 good. Normally a show waits for a season finale to drop a roller coaster ride like this.
