Frog Exaggerator has it right. Michael Scott and David Brent have the same fatal flaw of being desperate for attention and approval. I remember some making-of thing where Ricky Gervais describes how he came up with the show where he talks about his own awkwardness and it's basically implied that David Brent is the

"It's true…we all walk alone…"

While we're talking about cute (well, actually we haven't for a few days now but who cares), How cute was Dwight when he realizes how useful his newly-assembled gift is? Also Phyllis getting choked up at finally getting to be Santa. This episode was all around adorable.

From that Rolling Stone article:

FWIW, when I read "sabotage" it made me think of the vintage desks and original paintings they were all buying and putting in the Apple offices, as well as expensive Italian suits and the like. I guess it makes more sense, though, that they could have refused to make albums if they wanted to kill the band financially.

I guess I view all the corner-painting in an opposite way to you all. When Michael does these incredibly stupid things, I'm usually excited to find out how it's going to resolve, because the show usually does in an (arguably) cliche-breaking sort of way. I guess it's true that most of the time Michael just gets off

I, for one, was floored by the revelation about Kevin. This, and Michael's line in "The Lover" about being generous, sensual, etc. are why I think this is really one of the best shows on TV.

I was a little disappointed to not see Martyrs here. Not that I know anything about movies, nor that I've seen much from the top 10 of this list (because I'm lame), but it was a movie that affected me pretty heavily this decade, and I remember it got a B [something] here, so I thought it might show up.

speaking of cell-style artwork, I'm surprised to see "hand-drawn" in the review. are we to assume they didn't actually do all of this with computers?

"stripper anthem"
what an awesome idea! why do people not write more music for stripping to?

what if Conrad Bain is right and the gang from the Slough branch gets transferred across the pond to work with the Scranton gang. THEN NO ONE CAN COMPLAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Conrad, will she berate us or LIberate us? i.e. from our former patriarchal attitudes.

a tigerbow?

Maxim is good when it's stuff like "how many wolves would it take to kill a moose" and "how to age a side of beef" and manly stuff. It's not so good when it's all about "chicks, man, amirite?", espousing the kind of sexist reductive view of chicks that ultimately hurts us misfits because it promotes unrealistic

I agree that was really cute, and funny if in a not-all-that-clever kind of way.

The previews for this movie make it seem (as was mentioned above) like a middle-brow semi-but-not-really-deep vehicle for Cameron Diaz, but now I hear it's actually an okay movie? I can go see this with my sister? Thanks, Keith, for bringing the good news!

Just voicing another vote of support for Halloween is Grinch Night. That one was pretty awesome. Even the songs were pretty spooky, and it introduced the should-be-ubiquitous quote: "I have to go to the euphemism."

my vote goes to "Just For Now" by Imogen Heap.

at any rate, that is a great story.

I don't watch Brave & the Bold once, but it looks like it has appeal to super-geeks what with all the crossovers. Plus, the idea of a superhero show aimed at little kids is just adorable.
