Because any A-list talent who would be good at Green Arrow gets put on Batman instead?

If they just make it look like a (presumably) less violent version of the Final Destination movies then it would probably work.  Those movies always seemed to be able to convey the idea of weaponized bad luck pretty effectively.

Given that they probably won't be getting to use the word "mutant" and definitely won't have Magneto, it's probably safe to say that if they do dwell on her origin then it won't resemble her comic origin very much.  Being vague and not spending time on it might be the best way to go.

@flagonthemoon:disqus She's definitely still a walking plot device, probably more so now than ever before.  Even though her actions in Avengers Disassembled and House of M make her theoretically responsible for everything that's happened to both the X-Men and the Avengers for the last 8+ years, it's been pretty clear

@avclub-da518aecddbf5c94588f53562012c452:disqus  People like to use the phrase deus ex machina as if applying it automatically makes something terrible, but the entirety of Mass Effect 3 involved a war against god-machines. It's not like there was any possible way to end it that didn't involve gods in machines.  I

Yeah, it definitely doesn't feel like it could extend past the one story arc, unless they go for some sort of Die Hard style "same shit happening to the same guy twice," which would just be incredibly silly.

When I listened to an interview with the writer Christopher Sebela on the War Rocket Ajax podcast he mentioned the series ending in January 2014.  I'm not sure if they're still on track to end then or not, but it sounded like they have a pretty firm idea of how long they want the story to go.

I'm really glad people in the comments were on that, because trying to remember where that was from probably would have kept me up at night.  Hearing Emily say that Bendis made that joke made me think I was remembering a page from Powers, since that has a similar art style.

Have you read issue five of High Crimes yet?  I've been enjoying the title as a whole, but issue five definitely felt like the one where they get to the fireworks factory (i.e. Mount Everest).

SPOILERS FOR BOTH SHOWS I'm now picturing Jesse encouraging Gus to go talk to Hector again.

I guess there might have been.  If there was, I probably said the same thing then too.

Can't forget his cheerful "Time to pack!" while Dukat is utterly losing his shit over the Federation winning at the end.

This was my very first time being "The A.V. Club"ed!  I feel like a real commenter now.

I think that during the first episode with Jem'Hadar (called The Jem'Hadar, naturally) Quark shot one of the Jem'Hadar who was about to kill Sisko while they were making their escape.

I feel like it works in this case because it feels so inevitable given what we know about all the characters and forces involved.  It's been long established that the Prophets have some interest in Sisko and that they have vast power over what goes on in the wormhole.  We know that the Dominion's best way into the

The robots were cute, but they pretty much guaranteed that I'll never refer to him as anything other than "Scottish Mr. Terrific."  I'm hoping that at some point he refers to himself as the third-smartest man alive.

The season cliffhanger will be Dutch nailing him for being the Cuddler Rapist.

I'm hoping for a MODOK myself, though that might not fit in with the relatively self-serious Marvel cinematic universe.

Between the accent and his soft-spokenness,  I had a really hard time understanding anything that Scottish Mr. Terrific was saying.  I think I'll have to watch this show with subtitles from now on.

There should be a movie called "Superman Kill…If You Live, Shoot!", especially since Superman Unchained just recently became a thing.
