I'm a huge sucker for any storyline that depicts depression in a convincing way, so I found Chris' storyline in recent seasons to be one of the better conceived and more unexpected (in a good way) things that Parks has done recently, even if it hasn't always been done as well as it could have been.  I don't really see

I'm really late jumping in here, but if you want a lot of really good Batman stories that aren't burdened by continuity, the first 50 or so issues of Batman: Legend of the Dark Knight is probably one of the best continuous runs of Batman comics ever.  It's mostly devoid of continuity between stories except for a

I think it's interesting how none of the characters in Farscape (with the exception of Pilot) seem to have any desire to be traveling around on Moya.  Even Star Trek: Voyager and Lost in Space have a group of characters who chose to be on the ship and work together, whereas it feels like on Farscape most of the

I'll take the ultimate evolution of the martial arts over Worf's community center karate classes any day.  If science fiction shows can't make their depictions of martial arts interesting in a good way, then they can at least make them hilariously ridiculous.

After all the episodes of The Next Generation where a display of Klingon martial arts turned out to consist of Worf showing off some incredibly banal karate move, I'm ready to embrace almost any level of silliness in my science fiction martial arts as long as it looks somewhat interesting.

I guess I'd be in the "hate it" camp on the performance of Matala.  I pretty consistently found her voice really annoying, and the blatant villainy just made it seem kind of unbelievable that she would have been convincing enough to get that involved in the making of the black hole superweapon in the first place.  The

I kind of had the exact opposite experience you did, since my bad experiences with JMS' comics kept me from watching B5 for way longer than I would have otherwise.  I'm watching and enjoying the show now, but my previous bad experiences have definitely colored my opinions on the shitty dialogue that shows up now and

What @avclub-b20754d0f1e8ae843e00a8b39a667112:disqus said.  If you like the idea then I'd strongly recommend hunting down the Justice League animated episode "Hereafter," reviewed by the AV Club over here: http://www.avclub.com/artic…

JH Williams III's artwork on Batwoman might seriously be some of the best looking work I've seen on a comic, and the characters and the story tend to be pretty good as well.  I'd recommend checking out the pre-New52 storyline called Elegy that Greg Rucka wrote before getting into the current series though, since Elegy

I remember there being a Nuff Said in Bendis' Daredevil run that involved Daredevil fighting various assassins who were after a bounty on Matt Murdock.  It was neither wonderful nor terrible.

@avclub-bbb04f2a70775131fa0397bbdb4c03de:disqus Cartagia will make you regret those insults to his intelligence once he ascends into godhood!

Garibaldi and O'Brien are both pretty good everyman sort of characters, but I think the show tried a bit too hard to give Garibaldi relatable-but-gimmicky personality traits like the obsession with oily foods and Looney Toons. By contrast, I felt like DS9 had enough faith in O'Brien's likeability that he didn't get

That was exactly my strategy!  I've been filling in the gaps in the first season as I've progressed through the show though.

I kind of enjoyed how that line was presumably supposed to make Delenn sound really wise, but instead she just sounded like a stoner with a sudden desperate need to share some quasi-profundity that she'd just thought of.

It must have made her encounters with Bester that much more awkward when she was torn between her general loathing of all things Psi-corps and her uncontrollable urge to compare notes on how to bring up Russia more often.

Lennier is an interesting pick for a top character.  I think it was in the beginning of season 2 that Lennier's devotion to Delenn started to creep me out slightly, but that just made him that much more interesting.  I like Ivanova in general, but it's kind of unfortunate that the show frequently made her carry the

That episode was a pretty good argument for Babylon 5 to just give up on humor entirely.  It definitely did it better in a lot of other episodes, but I feel like the humorous subplots still had a lot more failures than successes.

Even though A Distant Star wasn't very good, the idea that hyperspace is used fairly casually and is incredibly important to interstellar travel but is also an incredibly dangerous and mysterious place is a really neat concept that was used fairly well.

SPOILERS AND STUFF
I feel like Dr. Bashir's involuntary illegal enhancements probably make him the closest equivalent to a Federation exile, though since DS9 never stops being a Federation station it wouldn't really have made much sense for anyone to be exiled from the Federation yet remain on DS9.

Ferengi society seems to be based around the idea of outsmarting other people and tricking them into giving you some advantage over them (generally in the form of you getting their money). The idea that someone could trick you into signing a bad contract and then you could just ignore that contract seems like it would
