That alt-text on the picture just made me unreasonably happy.

The climactic battle in The Avengers had several good moments, but those moments were unfortunately drowned out by the ridiculous amount of tedious scenes of the superheroes punching CGI space-orcs with no sort of personality or threat.  Avengers was still a really good movie overall, but the fight scenes were mostly

I'm with Wolverine Doppelshane on considering the Skyfall fight way better than any of the fights in The Avengers.

It would definitely make things a lot different if they went that way.  I mostly assumed they were keeping their options open by setting up the necessary technology for Ultron.

When I saw the first Iron Man my assumption was that by making Jarvis an A.I. they were setting up Tony to create Ultron.  After all, in the movies Tony is already good at making robots and making A.I.s, so there's no real reason they couldn't have him serve the same role as Pym.  It certainly makes more sense than

Season 7 had a lot to like (I thought Andrew's whole storyline was pretty fun too), but I think it was really brought down by the fact that I didn't find a single one of the potentials to be at all interesting, and their importance to the plot and the massive amount of screentime devoted to them really made the whole

Season 5 is awesome.  I think most shows could be improved by the addition of ridiculous time-travel shenanigans.

I don't think I've really heard many people complain about unLocke as the main villain.  I thought Terry O'Quinn was pretty awesome at being evil, and having an entity that had been a vague threat the whole show suddenly usurp the appearance of a beloved character was a good way to immediately make Smoky feel like the

@avclub-64ad8f3af92ef8d9a1c7dfd7265e577d:disqus  Threshold is definitely kind of fun. Plus that episode represents my favorite thing about Voyager, which is the tendency it had to get bizarre in ways that I don't think any other Star Trek show really did (and then push the reset button in equally bizarre ways).  It

I've been lurking on the DS9 reviews pretty heavily since that was my favorite show growing up, but I haven't watched any of it lately.  I'm very loosely following Dr. Who coverage.

I remember the Star Trek: Voyager season sets had a mini-feature on the disc with Threshold where the people involved in it talked very frankly about how absolutely awful that episode was.  I guess it just goes to show you that nobody will defend Threshold no matter how much they toe the party line otherwise.

I was having the same experience as you with Babylon 5 during the first season but in the second season it abruptly started looking way better, so there might have been some bad transfer involved or something.  However, whenever there's an actor in front of a green screen (I'm looking at you, aerial tram rides) the

DS9 was my first real encounter with that too.  If I wind up liking Farscape and B5 anywhere near as much as I enjoyed DS9 then I think I'll have a lot of fun with them.  Of course, it's been a while since I watched any DS9, so I haven't seen the effects that aging has had on that particular show.

Farscape and Babylon 5 are both shows that I've vaguely felt like I should watch at some point, but have never gotten around to, and I'm glad that AV Club coverage is giving me a good excuse to watch both for the first time.

Francisco Scaramanga will give you three.

One thing I like about "Pre-Taped Call-In Show" is how he keeps hanging up the phone and THEN angrily explaining how the show works. That little detail makes his rants much more pointless and funnier.

The most awesome part of this is that the judge offered an entire slew of examples of how to differentiate a historic Spawn character from Medieval Spawn, and wound up sounding a lot more creative than anyone who actually writes the Spawn franchise. I wonder if Image will steal the ideas she came up with while they
