It's escapist fun, mostly involving sexy teenagers (played but 20-32 year olds) having sexy sex. Plus there's some good scifi/post apocalyptic components and a beautiful set in the forests of B.C. It's better than anything currently on the 'syfy' network for sure, and considering the relative dearth of scifi elsewhere…

Please tell me how horrific it actually is, I haven't built up the courage (and drug stash) to actually watch the thing.

I think Woo listed his day jobs because CBS has a No admitting you're just an aspiring actor clause built into their contract, otherwise every other recruited cast member would be shown having the same job.
