I had the (mis)fortune of reading a Something Awful article about that, IIRC. It was a bunch of furries who loved Avatar claiming they weren't into Avatar for the furry implications, because their fursonalities weren't blue cat aliens, so everyone should shut up. They didn't make a convincing case.
