I've only seen Battlefield Earth with the Rifftrax commentary. I suppose I could watch it solo, but since I almost always watch movies alone, trying to crack myself up gets old fast. It makes an excellent Rifftrax though.

Maria Falconetti
Significant? I do believe this was her only film role ever, but considering that puts her in the company of Mark Pillow from Superman IV, it's no wonder you wouldn't want to use that adjective.
Anyway, her performance is riveting. She seems completely driven (or insane - take your pick), except for

Were those words written post-Godzilla stomping? Otherwise, they seem to be communicating how a literal Japanese translation usually sounds awful in English.

…which deserves all the reverence it can get
Damn straight.
The standoffs of Leone films are the sort of thing that would come across as boring in most other hands. After all, the showdown finds Bronson and Fonda staring at each other for quite awhile, though flashbacks intrude to unravel the backstory (and they're

Clint and Roger Corman seem to share the sensibility of getting things done quickly and without many takes. I have yet to be anything but put to sleep by something Corman directed, however, while my assessment of Clint's work is far higher than Mr. D'Angelo's (no relation to Beverly, right?)
I was gonna write some

Ah, Astaire & Rogers
Top Hat and Swing Time are currently blending together in my mind. I think the former had the beyond-silly plot in which Ginger's character didn't know what her best friend's husband looked like, and the latter had Fred playing a character with such amazing luck that all of Vegas would go broke

"You're fired!"
"Thank you."
*Ex-VP Dick Jones is pushed through a window by Robocop's bullets.*

Could Double Indemnity finally overtake Going My Way? It damn well better!

It Wouldn't be Hard to Top the Original
A lot of remakes are of cherished movies that were just fine in the first place. Anybody who says Police Academy didn't need any improvement needs to remove the sunglasses and earplugs that were clearly employed upon watching it, though.
I'm not stupid enough to EXPECT a remake

Too Much Effort Unless the Show is Really Really Bad
Oh, join you mocking the show? Nah, I'll just whip out the DS and keep grinding in Dragon Quest 6 whenever the show doesn't hold my interest. So long as it doesn't make any mega-bonehead maneuvers like bringing the Twilight stars out to salute horror movies (and

Poltergeist holds up? Maybe to some, but I cannot stand the stupidity of all the characters in that movie (most egregious and inexcusable in the final sequence). It's a very long tech demonstration to me, since all the people in the house are morons with no real development to make me care. Maybe if I'd seen it on

I'd say Jean Arthur deserved a lot better than Shane for her final film, but I can't really say it's a terrible movie, just a vastly overrated one with way too much focus on that damn kid.
Wasn't Hanging Up the final movie of Walter Matthau? Poor guy, he deserved better too.
Oh geez, and Jack Lemmon's final role was in

What, The Really Final Destination Isn't Happening?
After the series decided adding a definite article for the fourth one (which, amazingly enough, sucked), I thought it was going to go the way of that series which involves a lot of cars. I don't know what that series is called anymore, since Furious is apparently no

Ah, the musical remakes
High Society may not quite be the equal of The Philadelphia Story, but letting Bing Crosby duet with Louis Armstrong is awesome all by itself.
In the Good Old Summertime, on the other hand, has a giant problem right at the start in the form of Van Johnson. James Stewart is a hard act to

Anchors Aweigh is your favorite? Really? Gene Kelly had some great moments, Sinatra was okay, but something about Kathryn Grayson in that movie just repelled me. When I don't care for the female lead it's a tough sled.

The version with Stewart wasn't great, but…
If Hitchcock himself couldn't turn that into something awesome, I don't think any modern director who would actually accept the project can do it.
Note: I have not seen the 1934 version. Someday I will.

Especially in this series, which is not known for tidy endings that wrap everything up neatly. The first one is not the entire game, and anyone who goes into it thinking such is going to be VERY unhappy (though that meant Camelot was able to craft a pretty damn big game together with The Lost Age). The Lost Age did

Y'know, Nathan…
This would certainly qualify as a My Year of Flops entry. The world as a whole seems to have purged it from the minds of all, and it definitely wasn't a success at the time. Even I, with my snarky suggestion, haven't dared to watch the thing. Given the low learning curve Hollywood displays with its

Only the usual: syphilis, running sores and clap.
Ah, Clint. So much to discuss that this will become a massive post.
Let's see, the AV Club forgot to mention another Don Siegel-directed item, Two Mules for Sister Sara. While not the best film Don directed Clint in, it's the only time he's worked with Shirley

Theoretically, it could be decent
I don't remember why at the moment, but last year I read the book. Say what you will (it probably means I'm a weak, weak man) but it succeeded in freaking me out that night.
Then, the next day, I watched the movie. Edmund Gwenn was fine, but Dale Midkiff had apparently been taking
