CVS owned People's for a while before changing over the name. People's existed in DC when I arrived in 1993; I want to say the name was changed in '96 or so.

You people are reminding me of Doctor Who fandom trying to work out the Season 6B timeline of the Second Doctor.

As I read it, Nazir intended to survive by hiding in the tunnel. The endgame works out with or without him.

FWIW, in the real world some of the electronic networks are far less monitored than regular communications. Skype is unbreakable unless it deliberately puts tapping mechanisms in at the countrywide level (which it has done in several cases; unclear if that's true in the US). American cultural export is a very different flavor than British was. Ours is, "anyone who could see what we are will naturally and automatically become like us, because we're just that great." It's not paternal except when it includes "teaching what America is 'really' like." British colonialism was much more about,…
I'm a big fan of portentousness.
Out of the park. Leaf. I see what you did there.
