The "Walt is family" part is much more key than people seem to realize. Walt started dealing meth because he wanted to protect his family. Hank has been his opposite number for five seasons. Now Hank has the same question, and we're left with a storyline showing whether *his* best intentions will work out the same way.

That house is very expensively furnished. I've been chalking it up to "didn't realize how dangerous it was until Gus got killed."

I vaguely recall that that was actually reshot. Can't remember why.

Inertia.

Walt loves Junior. It's just that aside from the buying-of-the-cars plotlines, there hasn't been too much in that story that was interesting to depict.

Plus the background music was setting up for something bad to happen.

Assuming the inscription is from Gale (other threads have good discussions that this is a red herring), then the notebook is inscribed to Whitman, and Walt is the "other" W.W.

Bingo. I think Hank is a great cop, and Walt was in his blind spot because he loves the guy. Just watch their interaction in the pilot episode—you get all sorts of information about their relationship from the birthday party.

Or, for the third time I've posted this, since you don't necessarily sit down and read a book of poetry cover to cover, we may get a scene next year showing that Walt never saw the inscription before.

I thought that this season's Big Reveal would be, "Hank knew and is protecting Walt." I'm gonna say I was wrong, and now I'm going with, "Hank's instincts forced him to suspect a few times, but he was never willing to go there."
