Libby,

Libby,

I didn't know about AC-DC. One unique thing about "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" is that they were able to get a Zeppelin song in it. I think that was special favor to the film's writer Cameron Crowe.

I remember being in 8th grade when it happened and it was a pretty shocking among the kids. Also the death of Keith Moon the previous year was also disturbing. Those would be 2 huge red flags if you asked your parents if you could go to a "Who" concert.

Libbey,

LIbby,

Alvy,

Yeah Townshend has been criticized for "selling out" and making so much of music available for t.v. shows and commercials. I don't have a problem with t.v. shows or movies using the music but I hate when they use Who songs to sell allergy medicine or candy bars etc.

Yeah fair point.

Your other post won't let me respond directly so I'll respond to you on this one.

In an odd coincidence, Joe Flaherty (Mr. Weir) was in the movie "Stripes."

The original music "is" on Netflix, I just watched this episode.

Milton, yeah that makes sense because "Zeppelin" is/was notorious for being very protective about their music. That's kind of of surprising that "AC-DC" was too expensive.

Sorry, but how would you know what it "felt" like to go to a "Who" concert or to be a "Who" fan in the early 1980's to judge whether something is authentic or not?

I think Paul Feig was on the side feeding Martin Starr a serious of really dirty jokes which made him laugh uncontrollably.

Yeah, excellent music choice and it somewhat parallels the isolation the character "Jimmy" feels in Quadrophenia.

Jose,

I was a huge "Who" fan in high school and Bill is easily my favorite character in the series so there's a lot of things I really like about this episode. I've often wondered had this show survived would Martin Starr have become a minor star because his performance? IMO he is the best thing in this series.

I don't think it's "bizarre" that coach Fredericks responded to Bill Murray the way he did. The character is probably about 35-40 years old so that means he was born in the early to mid 1940's. I had football/baseball coaches in the late 1970's-early 1980's about this age who were pretty conservative ex marine/army

Yeah, LOL, Hank and Gomez are basically dodging 100 rounds of automatic gunfire from point blank range with a pistol and a shotgun. It looked more like an episode of the A-team or Macgyver.
