A work of art is active, not static. It always rewards further engagement, because we, as people, are always going somewhere, and art gives us something to measure our own progress by, beyond the material markers of social status, acquisitions, job promotions or whatever it may be. Art gives us another standard

Then you are stupid.

This show always hooks me in, no matter how ridiculous it gets.

Complicated plot construction over character development? And what about complicated character development? How does one but not the other require repeat viewing?

-I'm cutting you off;

How could they get the € if Scotland isn't in the EU? I know the UK is part of the EU, but Scotland? And if they wanted to join as a separate country, England could veto that, which means Scotland has to go back to tally-sticks, i.e. independence ain't gonna happen.

They just need some space, y'know, to think. It's totally not us, it's them. But Dissolve has been really kind lately, and, well, things just happen.

Yes, and you're next! Run!

I heard he was only at the audition to accompany a friend.

FA's quite literal swansong was a hoot, but I found myself wishing that that (dare I say never-to-be-repeated?), musical line-up had gone on to get their teeth into a meatier number for the finale.

I posted a comment on this board about it, although it's just, like, my opinion, man.

Does abortion count?

Agreed @avclub-7f389db64be5931a99231c3f7ce90288:disqus Who else in the Holmes canon is such a worthy adversary? Can anyone even name another (OK; Sebastian Moran)? Moriarty has to come back.

Yes, it would've been a lame cliffhanger if he'd only pretended to succumb to drugs. A genuine relapse would've been dramatically interesting and in keeping with the canon. I like a lot of things about the way the character's set up in this version, except the sex n drugs angle. SH hiring prostitutes? Ele-NO-tary,

No one had seen those Roman carvings in 2000 years, which explains how the alcoves were illuminated with soft, pink light exactly how?

@avclub-8b60408e00198cb3d612300e308cf006:disqus I read the bee scene differently-almost as a slight on Watson.

The problem with SH is that he never had a worthy nemesis except Moriarty, so that's a well the writers always go back to.

SH was never in love, only admiring of IA's intelligence. The romantic thing's been explored & exaggerated by subsequent writers, but has never been canonical. I suppose Holmes was never romantically involved for the same reason as John Lennon's being married with a kid was hushed up-to let the ladies fantasise.

@avclub-22cfdce02d35728058686d49fc89a63b:disqus He created a new species! Maybe I read too much into it, but it seemed like the new bee was a kind of symbol for Watson. Like he created a new investigator. I thought that made LL seem like a cyborg or something. It seemed like she'd been nothing more than a Sherlockian

The writers on this show are never afraid to throw around a little cheap death. I didn't like this outcome either. Politics in general is bullshit but I agree with the "don't-negotiate-with-terrorists" rule. Any time someone threatens you with an ultimatum, "do-this-or-die" style, whether it's the IRA or Anton
