This is a fucking travesty.
This is a fucking travesty.
But in a non-sexual, way, right? Like calling another character a dick. But you're right that the CW seems to have some more lenient standards across the board as to what is acceptable.
On the subject of how well it parodies L&O, I'd also like to point out that the first "killer" interview, i.e. where Neil looks for the keys, is so spot-on both in Neil's casual-but-not-entirely-casual delivery and his placement in the interview process (third) that both my parents called that it was him after about…
I've read about 2/3 of the first, and they're definitely worth looking into. I just lost my momentum on it because of comics iirc and haven't gone back to it yet. I intend to eventually. Very well-written, especially for YA novels, and the book has the added benefit of developing the relationship between Kat and Rue,…
This is an interesting point. What if these movies had been made in, say, '04-'05 instead? As huge as the books/films are these days, I can only imagine how much they would've blown up following the second Bush election.
Also I'm not surprised the male leads are washes, but that's because the male characters are quite underdrawn compared to the females; which, let's face it, that's a change of pace that I don't mind putting up with one bit.
This was one of the things I really liked about the first film is how they use that as a strategy rather than because there's actually much real attraction/interest there. It's a pretty great subversion of the YA romance-triangle cliché.
I enjoyed Lenny Kravitz quite a bit in the first, which is something I never thought I'd say.
Lawrence is always fantastic.

I'm glad this is getting good reviews. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the first one and I've actually been looking forward to this. I was just worried that the seemingly slap-dash production schedule (the first was only released this time last year!) would be too much to overcome.
so that you can break them apart and pretend to drink their blood
No, that was a parody of Downton Abbey.
This is actually a perfect idea and I am going to do it.
I've started to think I should make my Disqus and AVC avatars different so I know when this problem is happening to me too. As it is, the only way I can tell is 1) when I can't edit comments I made fifteen damn seconds ago, and 2) my Disqus avatar has an ever-so-slightly sharper resolution.
No, actually, I just couldn't figure out a way to do the pun properly, so I half-assed it.
It's a really awful pun combining "coriolis" and "anus" into Coriolanus.
It's the one about the deflection of moving anuses when viewing in a rotating reference frame, right?
"I hadn't realized until watching the doc how much pressure was exerted on the team by mob interests."
