I'm not sure how you operate our board in its current form without scrolling a decent amount as well.

That would be a black hole of snark that could threaten our entire way of life.
Yeah, I've been having flashbacks to that today as well.
I was a long-time part of a forum community (for five years) and I much prefer what we have here to a forum setup, yes.
Okay, seriously, why is the New Disqus change going to make extended conversations difficult?
Modell's always been a top-notch boss guy around these parts. I'm really glad he wasn't a part of the Purge.
Oi, Dave, take a look at your hockey lineup. You've got an empty wing spot, a benched goalie who's playing tonight, and a defenseman who's on the injured reserve list now.
And what the fuck is the deal with goddamn airline food?!
Okay, well, the big reason I have, the one that makes me doubt that the forums will be anywhere close to what we have here, is… well, there's not a word for it. But, basically, think about what we've got here in these comments. It's essentially a forum, with new topics being posted and replies to that being made, but…
If there's a way to make the forum more like a comment section, then I'd be more for it. As it stands, I think it'll change our community more than the impending New Disqus switch will.
Thank you. I was starting to think I was the only one not already running off the cliff.

Nah. It's clever enough, but coasts almost entirely on the author's ability to ape Lovecraft's style moderately well, which, let's face it, any tenth-grader who's read The Shadow Over Innsmouth and "The Dunwich Horror" can do.
He also did Project Runway and Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, which are hilarious.
"You will no longer have a profile page on The A.V. Club, but that’s something we may revisit in the future. You will have a Disqus profile clickable from our site, so you can still see all of your comments in one place"
I forgot about downvoting. Hopefully heavily-downvoted comments won't be automatically collapsed/deleted or anything. I don't think they are at The Dissolve, right? I'm sure the AVC community will be mature enough to downvote in an appro—bahahaha damnit I was so close
I really don't think this switch is going to be the disaster that people are making it out to be. Pagination is the only real issue, and if the site gets it set up like Gameological's (which could be likely), even that won't be much of a problem.
