From the prosecution's point of view and by the nature of the crime (often going to take place with only the couple present) that makes sense. But it makes you worry about vulnerable people repeatedly dropping charges/forgiving the abusive partner.

They never see a second of jail time and they are free to either continue being abusive to the current partner or move onto someone else and repeat the pattern. Not good. And sends a horrible message.

It's concerning if rich people can buy their way out of facing criminal charges and it kind of sends the message that if you are rich enough it's ok to commit certain crimes.

I wouldn't put him completely in that category which I think of as "secular preaching" but he was certainly treading the line near it ;-)

I don't agree. I watched all the specials and found things to laugh at in all of them. But humour's subjective.

On the contrary I think a lot of people feel like The Nightly Show is preferable to TDS at this point.

Lady Dynamite is not an easy show to get into but it's worth it for the portrayal of bipolar depression and the ensuing difficulty in relationships. Haven't seen anything like that on TV before.

Lady Dynamite is worth perservering with. I found the pilot episode jarring but some of the later episodes are really, really good. It's one of those shows where it takes time to get into the show's universe.

I thought Carlin pulled it off for the most part but YMMV big time with this stuff.

It takes a lot of skill to do what Carlin did. If you don't have it, it doesn't work quite so well.
