same here. I live in the midwest and my apartment is two miles from my job. I walk that distance everyday and everyone treats me like an oddity. people just do not choose to walk anywhere where I live.

I get what you mean. I moved from a sprawling suburb to a smallish Canadian city and lived there for almost a decade having no car and rarely driving. I walked, biked, and used the bus for everything. oftentimes my routes cut through parks and fields. having moved back to this suburb and being forced to drive again…

my dad had spinal surgery last week and I've moved into my parents' house to take care of him and my dementia-addled mom while he recovers. taking care of a sickly and feeble 73-year-old parent, who was once the strongest, biggest, wisest man I knew, drives that whole mortality thing home.

I'm a single girl in a tiny studio apartment. I lock my doors when I'm at home. however, I often leave my door unlocked when I run short errands.
