Yep, I have. I view Reveille as the meta-Deerhoof; outside of "Magnificent Bird…" most of the ideas scattered throughout are…ideas scattered throughout. Which is fine and good, and what buttered Deerhoof's bread for the earlier parts of the band's existence. Seems to me they realized editing through Apple O and Milk

Understandable throughout…Deerhoof is one of those bands that can mean anything to anyone. It might matter where the entry point is; TR4 was the first Deerhoof album I listened to, so it's probably colored my view of the band ever since.

Oh, and if I were to find the definitive song on TR4, probably "Scream Team."

Good call on "The Galaxist" encompassing what made Friend Opportunity special. Most people focused wrongly on the album's easist track ("Matchbook Seeks Maniac"), and then there was me, who thinks Deerhoof's best when the freak flag is flying high ("Kidz Are So Small"). But you've got it right.
