I'm late to the party, but man, it was infuriating when Joe sneered at the very concept of Chinese cooking. "This calls for a French approach, or Italian… something more refined." He actually said "more refined."

I really dislike their new second-person tone. "Watch X!" "Y is better than you think!" You don't know me, AV Club.

Very possibly. LOTR is a symbolic good-vs-evil parable, aiming to be epic and myth-like. GOT is a grounded, character-based drama (with dragons).

And Big Jim's confrontation with Junior was bizarre. "What were you thinking?" What kind of response is that? "Bit of a blunder there, Junior."

Yeah - it's a great premise. I love stories that take a society, and start yanking away its support to see if it will topple. Too bad.

Put em on the dome.

Yeah, that's one of King's great strengths. When his characters do something, you know why they are doing it, even if it's something you would never do.

Just because you're old doesn't mean you have to be so sad about it.

I think Fs are reserved for movies that are viscerally infuriating. This sounds shitty in every way, but not immoral.

I also don't enjoy his stuff. I appreciate that he's ambitious, and is trying to do something interesting. But a lot of his jokes require you to share his worldview to find them funny. If you don't have the same philosophy he does, it doesn't work.

El Paso is near Las Cruces, but is otherwise surrounded by expanses of empty desert. (Wikipedia says the population of greater Boston is 4.5 million, pretty different from El

I went to a similar Arclight screening when Shaun of the Dead came out. It was great. Edgar Wright watched Spider-Man 2 while we were watching Shaun of the Dead, then came back and announced that he would answer questions about either movie.

Everybody dies eventually. There. I just spoiled real life. Good luck enjoying it now.

As well as predicting the future and communing with the dead, real or fictional.

A podcast (I think it was the Reality Show Show) pitched a great idea for a reality show. A house full of gay dudes, and one straight dude pretending to be gay. The show is about the gay dudes trying to identify the fake gay dude. The twist: there actually are no gay dudes. It's all straight dudes, each of whom thinks

Joey Scallops IS Joey Clams! Right!

Sounds like he's finally detached himself fully from his personality. His thought process at this point is probably "stand here, make mouth sounds, furrow brow."
