I found the Jewish magician joke extremely benign as far as Family Guy's racial humor goes. I didn't find it laugh out loud funny, but they do far more offensive jokes every week, including in these episodes.
Thanks for the tip. I do have Netflix, so I suppose I'll give it a watch. The show seems a bit calmer and more Simpsonian in nature than MacFarlane's other shows.

Not even going to lie, that sounds appealing. Pick it up where Holidays of Future Passed left off, as that was arguably the best episode of the past fifteen years.
I gave up on the show early into its run, but I watched an episode tonight on Adult Swim and I laughed repeatedly. It's the one where the redneck boy from next door becomes Cleveland Jr.'s best friend and moves in. Lots of good material in that episode. Is the rest of the series as amusing?

I saw the last 20 minutes of Dangers on a Train and was surprisingly impressed. Didn't care for the Downton parody (Community did it!), but most of the jokes landed. I gave up on the show a few years ago, but I'm thinking about going back and watching the seasons I skipped out on. Might as well.
Performed? Yes, he did do the voice acting for that bit, and it was ill-advised shock humor that didn't work. Wrote? Probably not. I doubt MacFarlane personally came up with that gag.
