There's Northeastern, and there's Southeastern. Some bring up Mid-Atlantic, but I've always considered it too vague and ever-changing to consider it a category. And also, given your definition, Hipster, only really New England would be Northeastern, which I think is extreme.

I'm from Virginia, and "southern" is not a synonym for hick. Hicks are everywhere, depending on where you look. Also, Kentucky is barely the south.
