My gal and I started a simpsons related blog this past December: Flim Springfield, where we recast movies w/ characters from The Simpsons first 10 seasons. Including essays and gifs:

We were going to wait and build up a back-stock of posts before promoting it much, but when we saw this

"Homer you're punching the cat right now" is one I use, and gets used on me when I'm upset and little things.

-My gal and I use "I'm the Worst Poochie Ever" a lot, to apologize for inconsequential things.
-I have poor hearing, and am fond of "I'd like some taquitos" when I don't understand what someone says.
-At work, to describe the oddballs old folks who come by, we start off with Grandpa Simpsons onion story, "Like the time

prequel I assume.

I for one, welcome out week-long overlord!

We all know Jim Davis is the king of existentialist comedy-horror, so July must love the strip. I honestly think she's just angling for a guest stint writing it, like how Lena Dunham gets to write Archie.

I guess, after my initial flush of praise, I should clarify that I don't think they need to do A LOT of wrestling coverage, but overviews like the piece on NJP, and maybe a monthly/quarterly roundup or round table kind of thing (a semi-regular chat about wwe, Chikara, Lucha Underground, tnt, and njp) would be plenty.

I can appreciate this, NJP is a complete blindspot to me.
thanks!

I don't insist, but I do think its a blindspot in their pop culture panorama of coverage.

Here's to more pro wrestling coverage in AV Club in 2015!

^ for OSW Review!

I started listening just about when the show did. Unlike you I hadn't watched wrestling in decades, and was never more than a casual fan. I also find much of the Attitude Era awful too. Having said all that, AE is possibly my favorite show, along w/ their conceptual tag team partners on the OWS Video Review covering

All you comic fans hatin' on apes gotta seriously lighten up. Comics and apes go back longer than yer dark brooding punch-men and I for one embrace the diversity. If you can like Morrison's THUNDERWORLD from last Wed., you can like this too!

thank you for the insight amb. It doesn't change how the sprite killed my enthusiasm for the game, but I appreciate hearing about it. Incidentally there's a new comic series called WAYWARD that Image is publishing. It is set in contemporary Japan, and the writer is doing a pretty savvy melange of manga tropes within

I've been buying up all the SMMT in single issues. Looking forward to a complete read through when I get them all. It was too intense for me as a teen, but I've always loved Wes Dods, frumpy avenger.

My GF and I picked up Okami waiting for the next Zelda game (still waiting). While there were some genuinely fun aspects, and I didn't mind the easier boss battles (it wasn't about that obviously) what has kept us both from enjoying the game was the repugnant personality of the navi character. That little sh*ts

yea, I do think putting him in Stormwatch could have worked in the Nu52 rendition. Unfortunately, because they were such a watered down version of their og interpretation.

I kinda think J'onn benefits from not being the focus much. It makes his star moments that much cooler. I think my fear is, if given the spotlight he'd turn into the "dull and too powerful" version of Superman that a lot of non-comic fans complain about Superman being.

I can see that. On an intellectual level it makes perfect sense, but even so, when watching it I am just taken out of the story.
