Like a lot of avclub fans [aparently] I grew up reading Barry's newspaper column too. I even got away with reading one of his collections (Guide to Life) for a non-fiction book report in high school (I was reading a lot of comedy at the time, it made sense in context).

For "whatever happened to the bad guy" completest, I recall Bruce Timm saying in an interview that he felt Mad Hatter retired with 'his good friend' the Ventriloquist (… or maybe it was Riddler) and opened a B&B.

the creeper is absurdest, the point it that he doesn't make sense.
I adore the DCAU version, probably because the episode was written by Steve Gerber who managed to get some really great/sly symbolism into the story.
I also like the much maligned "Farmer Brown" episode for the same reasons.

I love the spider head too, but I'm partial to all the revamps.
I think the whole episode is pretty good. I know it plays against the great sympathetic Freeze we all love, but it makes sense that he's "lose his head" after Sub-Zero.

I gotta say, while Banner has always been a scientist, it's only recently that he's been considered in the Stark/Richards category. But that's part of the comics game, keep 'blowing up' every aspect until it reaches beyond all reasonable scale.
I don't exactly mind Banner in that echelon, but he doesn't need to be…

It turns out the cop and the serial killer are actually THE SAME PERSON!

Like Lang (not a Nazi) they were self-righteous bastards.

I caught Slipstream randomly on cable at about age 17.
Loved it at the time, and still think of it as a great arthouse Sci-fi in the vein of Zardoz or The Man Who Fell to Earth or Through a Scanner Darkly.

Always loved these redesigns. For any mistake—like Riddler—there are just so many pluses. Bane, Scarecrow, Ivy, the new Robin, and Catwoman all looked so great. Iconic, like deco statues come to life.
