Geoffrey Hill is arguably the greatest living poet.

I'm rarely in a good space anyway, so it should be okay, everyone needs a nice load of devastating cinema here and there ;)
Nice rundown, thanks! I ain't fussed in the slightest by the Jansenist Catholic/Lutheran-ish stuff, I'm a heavy reader of religious ideas in general, being an area that fascinates me and I enjoy such perspectives, despite not being my own. DoaCP was actually the first Bresson I wanted to see, but I couldn't find a…
I can't wait to grab this. I've been mightily impressed by Bresson so far; A Man Escaped, his Joan of Arc and Au Hazard Balthazar were all really interesting in their own ways. The rest of his oeuvre intrigues me greatly as well, especially Diary of a Country Priest..
You're welcome and you've definitely made the right decision. It's just pure, unabashed fun.
Just turn it off!
Recently got back from America…
We're at in impasse, Snide. You have an entirely shallow understanding of art and you don't seem to know the definition of the word 'fact', the latter of which is extremely worrying considering you've convinced yourself that you're a warrior for truth and reason.
Eh. I have little time for people who resort to the 'unicorns, mystical sky-fairies' line of argument. It means nothing, lacks depth and nuance and understanding of history and human motivation and evolution. It's lazy in other words. Your prejudice, in the context of the conversation, is rigidity in regards to art…
Exactly the case for you, of course. Your own prejudices hold heavy sway over the way you view art, I can see that clearly.
Yeah, I know a few douchebags too, I'm gonna go accuse them of murder, because, hey, why not?
You've seemingly misunderstood. I meant it's entirely impossible to imagine a world different to our own and it's consequences when thinking about or appreciating art, especially that of a mythological, religious and fantastical nature. One also must take into consideration the craft of such art, where enjoyment also…
Haha. Oh dear god. Hmmph indeed. I also can't imagine being so utterly wrapped up in my own ideology and view of the world that I don't understand any nuance or subtlety about belief, or human beings.
I can't imagine being someone who struggles so intently in appreciating art from a differing worldview or being able to put yourself in a different perspective or hell even imagining a different world and what those consequences may be. I can't imagine being someone so unbelievably boring and rigid.
Have gone back to Isaac Bashevis Singer's short stories after a short break. Endlessly rewarding, he truly is one of the great short story writers of the 20th century.
Bridesmaids was fucking terrible, so I can't say I have high hopes for this one.
A.A. Dowd makes me roll my eyes so much I feel like they're going to become permanently stuck looking backwards.
I'm an unabashed fan of Dumb and Dumber, but my fucking Jehova, this movie looks like complete and utter fucking shit.
Didn't you hear everybody?! rock and roll ape title's personal reaction to a film and publisher speaks for EVERYONE'S personal reaction to said film and publisher! If he finds a movie fucking boring-ass, then that's the way it is! No ifs and buts. Bah, perish the crazy thought that others find great value and interest…
My god he's such a fucking shitty writer.
