What a nothing story about nothing.

- Watched Casablanca for the first time and was completely and utterly taken in by it. It's such a blast of a film and hits its notes perfectly. Bogart is such a pleasure to watch on screen, he commands your attention with his presence and he's at the top of his game here. Great film, that looks beautiful on blu-ray.

Sooo most of your social circles are fucking idiots then?

Why should they? That doesn't actually make any logical sense. You're making a leap with no justification at all. You can say 'I think it'd be better if people did that'…but on no level is that 'hypocrisy', which is what I was responding to, unless you have no idea what the word means.

Watched two films this weekend:

That isn't hypocrisy at all. I don't need to engage in the creating of something to enjoy the consuming of it. What you said makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I doubt I'll cry over any celebrity death, but the ones that will really hit me hard and really sadden me will be:

Eh. No, I wouldn't say I'm disappointed. I think it's a poor article and I think his sort of criticism is shallow and narrow, but it's hardly surprising, so no, not disappointed.

Admittedly, what I said here was bitchy and added little, but when you spend all morning reading The Guardian (for some reason), it deprives you of faith in people's ability to read art outside of said thinking.

"This film didn't quite follow the worldview I discovered in my Gender Studies course. How disappointing"

I love that joke so much. One of those jokes that you don't really notice as a kid but when I re-watched the episode later on in life, and noticed it, I almost squealed with delight.

I really, really hope he doesn't. I have no faith in his abilities to pull it off.

It's far too prevalent on the internet. Everyone seems to feel the need to be part of the situation, as if choosing a side makes them involved somehow. It's really just people with big egos needing to feel like their 'support' means something.

I'm over it. I'm really really over it. I don't know what happened. I don't think I'll ever know what happened. So be it. It's not my business anyway.

Oh absolutely. He's a really wonderful poet that never seems to get talked about outside of the really devoted poetry lovers I know. I also like that Milosz has played a large role in helping English translators translate quite a lot of his poems. Sometimes it's nice knowing that an author got to have a hand in that

Very interesting. Lattimore is a consummate professional so there's likely something of pretty great value in it. As for what led him in that direction, I'd venture the simplest answer being the best: that The Bible, viewed as a work of literature, is a very, very rich source to translate and interpret. I'd shine a

Wow. What a witty, original comment that was.

Just continuing on reading passages from the King James Bible. Truly one of the greatest works of literature we have, regardless of your religious feelings. The Old Testament in particular is a towering work.

Finally got around to seeing some of the recent releases. First up was:

Yep. Well, at least for me. Like I said, you can draw the line wherever you feel comfortable. My original post was saying one can judge the quality of the art independent of the judging the quality of the person, in other words, how poor a person is has no bearing on how good their art is. It was in response to
