I'm curious about this film, as well. Is it in French? We will require subtitles, or universal translators.

@Thomas — really? You're glad the universe is full of filthy Space Protestants?
They did some interesting things with the Jem'Hadar, though not as much as they could have. It was a cool notion to have them as the perfect "soldier" race in contrast to the Klingon "warrior" ethos. And there was the intriguing development hinted at in the otherwise-lousy "One Little Ship" that there was an "ethnic"…
Let me be clear…
…I know there are a lot of Rabin haters out there, and I'm not one of them. But it seems clear from this clip that the man didn't know how to pronounce "Lumet." Not unforgivable, by any means, but striking.
Yeah, I mean, I was probably 20 when I watched it. Most of it's damned good as I recall. Plenty of Simpsons-level gags. Been a long time, though.
I'd forgotten this until just now, but remember the animated Tick series? They did a "gay" episode in, like, 1994, where the sidekick, Arthur, agonizes about coming out to his family as a superhero. He and the Tick are treated as a gay couple in all sorts of nod-and-wink ways. And that was nominally a KID'S show. So…
Yeah, the Space Tree was a sacrificial offering to the Great Space Snowflake — which, lest we forget, in that episode could apparently UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. Seems like there'd have been better ways of dealing with it.
That might have been how Visitor read the part, but clearly she hadn't noticed WHAT SHE WAS WEARING.
Maybe my memory is off. But can't they fire through shields with relative ease, at first? It's sort of terrifying.
@Pseudonyms — oh, man; I'd forgotten about all that stuff with the Regula 1 team. They had names and personalities and everything, so it was pretty harsh when they got tortured to death. And what was up with all that Lewis Carroll shit?
And they're really heavy. I like to think that they're all full of that totally awesome drug from the Pusher Planet that Picard busted back in "Symbiosis." The Federation has to fund its black ops somehow.
Mrs. Peel — if we meet on the street, I will deny all knowledge of the internet whatsoever. Then we will proceed to get drunk as Riker on payday.
I've heard that about Voyager, too. But I've steadfastly refused to watch it.
Yeah, that one's great. I wish they'd done more TNG episodes.
Yeah, the whole point of the mirror universe (at least in DS9) was to be sexed-up and campy. Which was entertaining. Once.
Yes! "Thine Own Self!" Awesome episode. Troi orders Geordi to his death!
Well, I already mentioned the Blish books, which were huge. My school library had them! It was awesome! Also, Alan Dean Foster's "Log" books, which were adaptations of TAS, although I didn't understand that there had actually BEEN an animated series for a long time after that. I just thought they were stories.
Not to mention thousands of other Enterprise-D's emerging from temporal anomalies. Can you really call them "anomalies" if they happen ALL THE DAMNED TIME?
The problem with the Jem'Hadar thing was the same as the problem with the Borg — they could never be that bad-ass again. If they'd remained as dangerous as they were in that first battle, they'd have been completely unstoppable. I know we're supposed to think that the Federation went into weapons-development overdrive…
It's very easy to read Q as gay, as well. He starts out as just Evil, but very soon he develops an unrequited crush on Picard and spends the rest of the series flirting with him. (They're even shown in bed together!) DeLancie certainly camps it up.
