Shitty filmmakers make shitty films (wink and nod or no). But I do think the filmmakers who position their mediocrity 'ironically' don't tend to realize how difficult that sensibility is to pull off well - arguably moreso than a shlocky film played straight.

I went opening night in the college town of Ames, Iowa, (drove an hour to see it, in fact) and the house was packed. It was an event experience - it's just that everyone who was looking for that experience saw it on opening night.

"Another Way to Die" doesn't work, but it has a sense of risk and energy to it. Even though - in this case - I think this is a mostly justifiable reason for hating Imagine, I would like to note that the persona signing in a song does not necessarily equate to the songwriter.
