I watched Session 9 3 times. Each time I would watch it, think "That was slightly better than most Sci-Fi Original Horror Movies, but not by much," forget about it for a year or so, then read a bunch of people/reviews depicting it as one of the decade's great atmospheric horror flicks and watch it again.

Another point in favor for The Ring over Ringu: The method of exposition in Ringu didn't do a lot for me. In The Ring, since Watts' character is a journalist, it makes sense that she's able to track down the information and put the pieces together- in Ringu, they just kind of wander around and have psychic backstory…

The Silent Hill series is pretty amazing, 2 being the towering champion above them all. It's given me a lifelong irrational fear of air-raid sirens (to go along with the perfectly rational fear that you're supposed to have when you hear one) in any context.
