I'm sorry, but Azaria is no Stephen Mangan, and Hahn is no Sharon Horgan. The pilot was nice but it was so subdued and self-composed compared to the British original; even worse, Azaria and Hahn just don't have that lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry between Mangan and Horgan.

It's a testament to this show's wholesome goodness, that despite it being thoroughly conservative, Kipling-imperialist, paternalist and royalist, I watched the whole first series in one sitting. It's goddamn engrossing.
