Holy shit, this is a shock. Even having carte blanche in Hollywood (I mostly hated his output, except for the early to mid-90s work that Tobias mentioned; still haven't seen Unstoppable) couldn't shield him from despair (EDIT or an inoperable brain tumor). RIP.
