First off, now that American Idol is over, how do I distract myself til football season?

I'm 100% convinced they've been playing mind tricks all season to get America to vote for Jessica - the save, never giving her credit, giving her horrific songs over the past two weeks (although a lot of song choice may have been on her, really).

I think it's harder to market Jessica just because there are fewer female pop stars. The ones that are big (Britney, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, etc) are huge and completely dominate airwaves. Whereas with Phillip, there are tons of generic musicians just like him that manage to get moderate airplay/sustain some

I really think reason WGWG win so easily has (almost) nothing to do with their looks. You could just as easily put a nonattractive one up there (Lee, anybody?) and they could handily win. And I think that's because that brand of music is just popular amongst America as a genre. I'm not saying individual WGWG are

I really did love Adam during his season (starting with "Tracks of My Tears"), but I have never felt more violated in my entire life than I did when he sang the Rolling Stones in his semi-final performance. Like ever. Not even Constantine Maroulis (shudder) made me cringe that much.

I feel like most people I know who watch have a love/hate relationship with it. There are SO many things I hate about this show: producer manipulation, certain contestants, bad auditions, the judges, etc. But I watch out of a heavy sense of obligation (I haven't missed an episode since season 2 and I'm certainly not

"It felt like nobody wanted to dance this season."

Things I haven't missed from the American Idol viewing experience: being eye raped by Adam Lambert.

I've always found it kind of interesting/weird on this show how there seems to be a huge gap between contestants who actually enjoy and love music versus contestants who only seem to know music from American Idol/what they sing along to. Like, on one hand you have your Haley Reinharts and Elise Testones and David

The winner's song! I'm really curious to know what kind of song they'll saddle Phillip with he he's in the finals. I hope it's something terrible, along the lines of "No Boundaries" for mere entertainment purposes.

THANK GOD FOR PHILLIP'S DAD. I was starting to get stressed that the closest we had to tears up until that point was Jessica's whole hand-over-her-mouth-in-awe thing. Way to man up, Phillip Phillips Sr.

Oh, Jessica. That's not why they call it "Sunday Funday." Joshua. No one quiiiite believes you when you're calling JLo sexy. Way to at least try and sing along with "The Climb" during Hollie's sing out, Phillip. Hollie, come back!!

Totally agree with the above! I'll always love Season 8 and it's one of my all time favorite Top 4/5 (minus Gokey) but I remember when the season started I hated every single thing about it. Michael Sarver? Jorge Nunez? All of those listened above (minus Anoop because he was awesome)? Between those contestants and the

I can never quite buy this argument in it's entirety. Or at least not in regards to Phillip (obviously it works well for Scotty or David or even Kris Allen). He's too scruffy and growly for the tween voting block.

I occasionally really pity Phillip Phillips. I am never more uncomfortable watching this show than when they try to get him to do something "for the ladies." The week Jimmy brought in all those girls to watch him in the mentoring session was unbearable. Between that and forcing him to kiss the JLo poster tonight, I

Even though I feel like I wouldn't technically be allowed to object if it came down to a Joshua/Jessica final two, I really really don't want to have to the watch that finale. I know exactly what to expect from both of them and neither one sings in a style I'm remotely interested in listening to. Which must be how

I've watched for nine seasons and haven't missed a single episode and have voted exactly three nights, ever: once when I was 14, once for Kris Allen when I was drunk and for Haley last year (because suck it, Randy).

Huh. Weird. I can't seem to edit the above on my phone.
