From what I have seen (which, is admittedly not that much, specially regarding non portuguese-speaking ones), Brazilian soap operas/telenovelas are truly leagues above the others. Better scripts, better directors, *much* better actors.

Mysteries of Lisbon is really only avaliable as a movie in Region 1? Here in Portugal it's avaliable (for a very reasonable price, even) in a double edition with the movie cut and the TV cut… (I have it, but I haven't yet watched it. I hear the movie cut is better, though.)
