One of only a handful of movies I've ever seen in a theater I wanted to
walk out on. (I was with a group and I didn't drive or I would have.) Will never understand how anyone can be entertained by it… but I'm sincerely glad you were! (Honestly, cuz nobody should have to suffer as much as I did watching it.)

I wasn't changing my position from my original post, I was simply agreeing that everyone has their own opinions about movies and that's cool.

Agreed! :)

I like Jurassic Park just fine, but Platonic ideal?
It's full of plot holes, unnecessary characters, long boring stretches, and annoying Spielbergian children.

I guess I'm a little confused by this review. While I agree that the persepctive of priveleged white people is one of the least relevant when attempting to come to terms with the reality of Ferguson, how could a show about privileged white people meaningfully address it any other way? That unnamed people of color were

To me, the most outdated elements of this film are:
1) The scene where Colbert is disgusted by the idea of eating a raw carrot. I mean, it's RAW! Ewwwwwwwww.
2) Autogyro! (Giving this word as an answer during a pub quiz was one of the most satisfying moments of my life.)

I agree — I'm just hoping she is important enough in the major plot to justify all the screentime she's already had. I don't see how they could really deepen her character too much at this point, but I'd like to see her existence justified at least beyond just being a sex partner.

I think the last scene tonight points to Lana having a greater purpose
than just to bone Kalinda. It certainly would be nice if it becomes a
major plot point with deep ramifications, otherwise yeah, Lana has just
been a lot of wasted air time.

No.
Skepticism does not mean "believes disproved nonsense despite established facts".
Not at all.

Which Yngwie Malmsteen? Without a middle initial, I'm unsure who you mean exactly.

Fantastic doc about which I have but a single gripe:
Why the fuck should I care about Matt Groening's opinions about Beefheart?

In high school, I routinely gave my English essays nonsensical titles, often swiped from song lyrics and such, and "Neon Meate Dream Of A Octafish" was one I remember my teacher commenting on. ("Where DO you come up with these titles?" or some such.)

Yeah, the career-capping trio of LPs never get their due on "Best Of All Time" lists while TMR seems to remain a mainstay. Why's it so hard to shake up the canon?

Safe As Milk was the one that got me interested and it remains a favorite.
And I've recently had the pleasure of singing "Zig Zag Wanderer" with a band and holy fuck is that fun.

This article gets one very important thing right: Trout Mask Replica is NOT the place to start getting into Beefheart. Because it routinely shows up on "Greatest Albums Ever" lists, I checked it out way back in my high school days and hated it so much it took me at least another 10 years before I finally listened to

"Once again proving that if something happens more than seven times, the
Internet will marshal its forces to document it in supercut form" and then the AVClub will post it on their site out of sheer laziness, despite the ever-increasing number of commenters who clearly wish they would stop promoting this stuff.

This shit reminds me of the "Hippie Dance" my high school staged during my sophomore year. To simulate the '60s, people showed up in store-bought tie-dyes with — I kid you not — neckties around their heads. Because that's what all the hippies did, right? The music ranged from The Beatles' "Twist And Shout" to such

There is no sense in which it is correct to say that AC/DC is worse than Kiss. And I love a lot of Kiss.
AC/DC IS rock'n'roll. They can never do wrong singing about it.

In the earliest days of rock and roll, piano and sax were much more likely to be the featured instrument than guitar. I'm not sure what definition of "rock song" you're using that doesn't include the work of Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, or King Curtis, but it's certainly not the one that's in my dictionary. True, Bob

I'm not a particular fan of this song, but I have no issue with rock songs about rock'n'roll as long as they actually rock. What grates me are songs about rock and roll which don't. I've always been bothered by "Drift Away", for example, where he sings about getting "lost in your rock and roll" while neither rocking
