I didn't mind the banana-flavoured Kit Kat, but I personally prefer the caramel Kit Kat Chunky bars (Kit Kat ice cream is also good).

I liked her first three albums, thought the fourth album wasn't the apocalypse as reported (I remember a lot of hipsters gnashing their teeth over it), but found her last album crushingly dull. Despite that, I have soft spot for her.

No, I love Feist, despite the fact that she's from the Prairies, a merciless wasteland of Pilsner-swilling rednecks and stubble jumpers.

Sloan is a national treasure
Whenever Stephen Harper and his minions piss me off (which is a regular occurrence), I play a Sloan album and everythings's all right in Confederation (at least for a little while).

Kenny is my favourite American critic for so many reasons, but I love the fact that he's both erudite and entertaining and very passionate about film (and he's quite literate and has good taste in music). His musings on his blog are refreshingly honest and often humourous. I now have no need for Premiere whatsoever.

There's no denying that superhero movies are highly profitable now, but there's the inevitable genre fatigue: the studios will churn out so many of these movies that the quality will suffer (happened to Superman, Batman, Spiderman and the X Men). Yes the comic book fans will never tire, but mainstream folks will look

who the hell is ant man?
With so many Marvel/DC adaptations announced and/or filming, I'm willing to bet many North Americans will tire of the men in tights.

I too discovered Alien at a birthday sleepover (I was 13) and the damned film scared me to pieces! I remember lying in my friend's 80s-centric basement, unable to sleep, listening to the weird groans and clicks basements make….

An Iron man who won't rust?
I'm going to get a real thrill checking out Shellhead's first movie (I was primarily a DC kid, but Iron Man, DD and Spidey were must reads). I quite like Robert Downey Jr. and Jeff Bridges as a bald villain (what, no Mandarin?) is inspired casting!

I don't like spoilers and generally avoid them, but I'm shocked when somebody isn't aware of a famous film's outcome (like Planet of the Apes). I had watched Psycho with my girlfriend awile back and apparently she had no idea about Norman Bates—her reaction to the ending (pre-Simon Oakland coda) was priceless and made

I just can't win
I loathe American Idol (my friends all watch it) and I like (and champion) late-period Simpsons (which my friends have hated since, oh, 1997, sigh).

the pride of newmarket?
I liked their debut EP well enough, so I'll pick up the album.

currently gorging on the replacements and husker du
The Replacements influenced a lot of indie bands, but many youth today have no idea who they are. When the Weakerthans covered "Swingin Party" in Vancouver last Fall, I overheard a young couple remark about a "cool new song". My girlfriend, a huge Weakerthans fan,

A Flawed but fascinating film
Pi has been sitting on my DVD shelves for years, but I think I'll finally watch it again (and maybe that other 90s BW indie, Suture)—it's one of those films you don't watch a lot, but can't justify getting rid of it.

more 90s nostalgia to cuddle up with
After being subjected to so many silly sci-fi spectacles, wouldn't it be nice to see some 90s folks teach these 21st century whippersnappers how to make a fun popcorn movie?

Of course the Ceeb gets credit for airing Twitch City (and prematurely cancelling the oh-so-good jPod), but all of the good contemporary Canadian comedy is either on CTV or Showcase: Trailer Park Boys, Corner Gas, Robson Arms, Rent-a-Goalie, Billable Hours.

Fuck royal canadian air farce—i miss comedy on the CBC
I always loved the little sketches, like the one where Dave Foley plays the guy trying to lose weight, avoiding the temptation of a giant chocolate bar (or the cabbie who delivers babies).

Return of the 90s Indie Bands Brings Fuzzy Memories
The Breeders are back, so too are Mission of Burma and Dinosaur Jr…I know a Pavement reunion has been largely discounted, but the time is ripe!

Canadian Chips Make Life Worth Living!
In Canada we have access to the many fine flavours of British crisps (from several British-themed stores), while curiously Canadian chip flavours like Ketchup (ugh) have been available for decades. Various Canadian chip companies make an assortment of tasty flavours: Wasabi,

The Stigma of Being Geeky
Tasha's response to the whole geek/nerd relationship question was quite refreshing. How many people who have several geeky tendencies, but have healthy romantic relationships and friendships, hide their interests because of the perceived image of the obnoxious, socially-inept geek? Many of
