I think he underplays the role, which gives it a lived-in, regular-guy quality that Star Trek (and space opera in general) frequently lacks. That (plus good, warm chemistry with Sisko) means I'm a fan of this performance, but I can easily see the other side of it.

I would have described S1 like the article does, but we just did a re-watch last month - it holds up way better than I remembered. Tight plots, solid characters.
The ending doesn't work: perhaps it could have, and if it works for you that's awesome. And yeah, if the kill was from out of nowhere that might have sharpened it up.
Yeah, that sentiment of "you shouldn't be forced to put your desires on display" was an unexpected one, and I like that about this episode; it's standard, but with some interesting points.
That makes me go Kennedy. Maybe from a starting point of Michael Caine it works better.
I sort of skimmed the headline and thought Adele would be performing surgery at the grammys. How multitalented of her! And a bold choice for an awards show.
Of course he rhymed biology with ideology. Of course he did.
I've really enjoyed having no conscious awareness of "What's Up" for the last 15 years. I don't like that I'm aware of it again, now.
Piling on with the Hard Boiled love. That's the comic that broke my brain, made me see what the form was capable of. And sure, a lot of that's down to Darrow, but Miller gets full credit for his work there.
I'm going to like that comment too, because "I'm quoting Ayn Rand now" is the perfect culmination of this bit. And for 1happy1, listen - you simply don't present yourself as someone worth conversing with. Not a judgement on who you are, just how on you introduced yourself here.
Oh, yes. That was extraordinary.
When Buffy was psychic for an episode.
Cordelia (thought): Whatever. I wonder if I can go.
Cordelia (spoken): Whatever. Can I go?
He remembers all of it, too. For every other Random Roles, at some point, the actor goes "damn, what? I don't remember being in that. Well, if you say so."
Yes! This! I turned to Mrs. Pants and said "are we sure that we're not just really fucking high?"
You know, I avoided AdBlock all this time because ads = revenue, and I like that these nice people are getting paid. But that READ NEXT thing just crossed the damn line.
Anyway, AVclub, sorry but no more ad-views from me.
