I don't think Volition deliberately tried to tie RFG to any modern politics. There's no torture and suicide bombings are not encouraged. The lone man against overwhelming numbers has been a staple of video gaming nearly since the beginning. Parallels can certainly be drawn.

To be fair, there were no spelling bees nor grammar rodeos in that "People Are Awesome" clips.

Genevieve Koski and I have the same home town. AFAIK, we're about the same age too. I don't remember any Genevieves in school though. I do remember The Chipmunk Adventure, if that counts for anything (note: it doesn't).

It's got an 82 on metacritic, which is pretty good. Maybe one or two reviews annoyed me going overboard in attacking the game's unoriginality.

I've played all of the DS Castlevania games and played SotN more times than I care to admit. I cannot make heads or tails of its cannon or general arcs. Story is definitely the last reason I play the series.

I think it's pure nonsense for the gaming press to knock games for being derivative. Darksiders (I think this is what you meant) was a great game that copied elements from a variety of sources (GoW, Metroid, Portal). I Do Not Use Coasters In Your House

I'm a comic geek, zombie nerd, TV addict and crazy introverted. I have no plans for October 31st other than being creepy in completely unintentional ways to the kids foolish enough to come by. Though mother and I tend not to get many trick-or-treaters.

I don't know about getting "ridiculously powerful" but yea, this series is bite-sized Metroidvania done right. Great stuff.

Electric Box is free. Also, it's on a grid, so getting positions right isn't an issue. Gravity doesn't play a role in Electric Box. Other than that, the games are pretty much the same.
