But he quietly disappeared after the first season, never to be mentioned again.

Dozens of people spontaneously combust each year. It's just not really widely reported.

"Due process" for a murderous traitor? In the US? Really?

I arrived here late, and am shocked that the angry mob has yet to form demanding equal time for dead man-butt.

I suspect that the real significance of the B-plot was to establish the Silva/Fusco relationship and to place Silva as an independent operator on this "gang task force." This will probably be central to whatever Dominic/Brotherhood showdown they have planned for the second half of the season. Though I will miss Shaw,

It was easy to miss the significance of the reversal in the final exchange, as Finch comfortably assumed the role of advocating for the wisdom of the Machine, and Root rejected not just Team Machine but the Machine itself.

This episode was loaded with such "shades." I especially appreciated Reese lecturing the clueless woman about her moral culpability in blindly following orders, with Root smirking in the background. Root again sees such people as mere means to an end.

Ugh. Schrödinger's Cat? Really?

I also liked the return of Silva. But Shaw has only been gone for a couple of episodes, and that two-timing Fusco is already using his unique charms on another brunette beauty? I never thought he could top the smoothness of "You wear makeup?" But he actually pulled it off with "You clean up nice! Who woulda thunk?"

No, it is not the same actress. There's at least a 20-30 year age difference. And even if they were, there is no "coincidental" element or "exploitation"; rather, the woman appears to have initiated her own defection.

I am really dying to see Matthew Rhys' facial expressions as Clark while Martha confides in him the uncanny resemblance of their KGB suspect to his sister Jennifer.

Any strangeness in the Soviets apparently letting Stan completely off the hook for the Echo debacle? What is Arkady's plan for leveraging his dirt on Stan? And how does Oleg's stalking of Stan fit in to it?

That, and a realization of the world of hurt the Soviets in D.C. would face if the Jennings killed another F.B.I. agent. Though I suppose if they had to kill another F.B.I. agent, Gaad would certainly be Arkady's first choice.

Once the church disappoints, I would really love to see a new boyfriend bring her to a DK concert. How would Elizabeth feel about that?

Philip as Scott is (was) a "Swedish" spy, Frusen Gladje is a "Swedish" ice cream, Philip's old flame defected to Sweden…clearly the next period music will be a late Abba cut, and Elizabeth and Paige will be road tripping to Philly when the first U.S. Ikea opens.

This may be a brilliant catch. I just rewatched the scene, and Stan makes three separate glances directly at the pen. I can't think of any other possible explanation; Stan must have been using the same psychic skills that informed him of Martha's abuse of the Mail Robot.

бивень!

This is very true, but he and the wig will live on in my heart forever. Like Frusen Gladje, the Clark/Martha thing may be decadently sweet and delicious, but has a very limited shelf life.

Over the holidays I re-watched the last several episodes of Season 2, as well as War Games. The mention of the Cheyenne Mountain facility during "Echo" startlingly triggered thoughts of "do you want to play a game?" I better appreciate the degree of the excellence of The Americans' aesthetic with the realization that

That list seems to include five complaints, four of which are complete nonsense. I really love this show. But I find myself agreeing with your "thing two." The Martha/Clark marriage was a very cool idea for 2-3 episodes, but has long since outlived its usefulness and strained credulity beyond acceptable limits. If
