I still abide by my original theory: they were originally shooting a different film about the Amazon, when they stumbled upon Jon Voight rambling about anacondas.  They thought, hey, we got a big star now, but with Voight insisting on talking about snakes non-stop.  That put them in a tough place, so they rewrote the

Behold, the ravages of age!

Great song. I hadn't heard the story about the bet, but I love it.

Holy Shit, DFA1979
The Death From Above reunion is the best news I've heard this year so far. Goddamn, I'm excited.

Yeah, this is horseshit. I love "The India Song": that "flute" riff, drinking gin and tonics, visiting India—it's all great.

Southtownriots—absolutely agree on 7-9 of Apologies. That's a run that can match just about anything. Hadn't heard anything about the breakup though. If that's the case, I'd be seriously bummed.

Yeah, I was confused by the Wolf Parade as Arcade Fire Jr. comment, especially as someone who intensely dislikes the Arcade Fire. Their sounds and styles are really quite dissimilar.

Oversights
Beach House - Absolutely gorgeous album. More than just simple chillpop or whatever term you want, there are some amazing melodies on this album

My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead, and that's the way I likes it!

Good to see all my favorite underrated Smashing Pumpkins songs mentioned—"Drown", "Eye", and "Here Is No Why" are all brilliant songs that most people overlook. "Drown" has that wonderful feedback solo, "Eye" manages to get that alt-rock meets gloomy techno combination just right, and "Here Is No Why" is just filled

I just went as The Dude last night , and nearly everybody got it immediately. I think once you're out of high school, more people have seen the movie.

Am I excited?

Holy shit McGillicuddy, that made my week.

I heard the news from Jon Stewart
I was at the taping of the show yesterday, and that's how I heard it. He definitely was hurt by the news. The interesting part was that after he did the "Moment of Greg" he said sorry to lay that on you, we just heard about it an hour ago…now you have to pretend you didn't hear

Both "A Hundred Miles Off" and "Pussy Cats" are underrated. "Louisiana", "All Hands and the Cook", and "Another One Goes By" (even though that's a cover) rate among their best work. And "Pussy Cats" is just fun, though like wo I don't have the original album.

Down on the Upside is a fantastic record. "Burden in the Hand" might be the best song Soundgarden ever did, and there are other tracks that don't get the attention they deserve ("Zero Chance", "Tighter & Tighter", "An Unkind").

I love "India Song". As Synechdoche says, it's sweet and a perfect breather on the album, and I love the melody and sentiment. It is definitely unfairly maligned.

They have a lot of killing in their songs
Better Than Ezra has a lot of violence in their lyrics but they're pretty cheerful—"Rosealia" has the girl escaping from her captors, "King of New Orleans" has someone getting the crap beaten out of him, etc.

You can't fool us—we're from the "Learn to Fart" state!
