He kind of does sound perfect here, but from the way Gilmartin tells it on his podcast, his dad was an alcoholic who ignored his family almost constantly, never providing any affection whatsoever. Also if I'm remembering correctly he tried to commit suicide at one point. So I dunno. I guess people are complicated?
