What was it that was controversial about the vinyl series? Bad sound? I remember them being something like double-albums at 45rpm, but I could be wrong.

Bassist Tom Hamilton said it best: "People looked at us as a trashy,
cheap band. Aerosmith was the stoned cousin who said something to
embarrass you at the party".

My parents still had/have the Dot accent, but yes that was some kind of mutation.

I never knew that was a thing. Both my parents are from Dorchester, and I grew up 15 miles south of there. And yet I got sent to speech therapy for a few years because I pronounced it the same way. Like that, or "bawthroom."

Everybody has their own opinion.

I laughed. It worked.

Listen to this, you'll save water. Let it rain for 40 days and 40 nights and wait for the sewers to back up.

I never listened to that one apart from the singles. Not that good though, was it? Compared to the 'sober-era' releases that came before it?

The Dirt is an incredible must-read if you enjoyed the Aerosmith autobiography but felt they were a bit tame. It's a worthwhile if only for the section that reproduces Tommy Lee’s prison diary. And his poetry. Poetry!

I could never understand how Lou maintained his level of popularity in the 70s and beyond while John Cale's albums were largely overlooked.

I've Got Kids All Over Town!

I've read this as well. There was a great write-up a few years ago on Raymond in the nyt magazine:

"In the ’70s McCartney was fond of marijuana…"

I think the Spot's damage is probably so deep with that album that there's no rescuing it with a new mix/master (like L.A.M.F.). A total shame.

I know him, and he does.

I caught this as well; I remember it was called the "Escape from New
York" tour. Summer of 1990.  I bought a white Ramones t-shirt that had
colors splashed over the eagle logo. It was the most un-Ramones design
ever.
