I'm always sort of worried about coming off as sad/pathetic/creepy, which occasionally wins me points with girls who like the "shy sensitive guy" thing, but generally just makes me look sadder/more pathetic/creepier.
Whether or not it's for adults doesn't determine if it's good. Low Winter Sun is for adults, and we all know it sucks. Adventure Time is for kids, and it's fucking awesome.

It's a grueling episode. Definitely not a pleasant one, but I think it sort of had to happen. "Ozymandias," as dark as it was, was almost exhilarating in its horror. "Granite State" reminds us of just how bleak the reality of it is.
I've never had a problem with 'idiot plots' or pulpiness in BB. One of the things that makes it so great is that it's not supposed to be realistic in a "this could happen to you" sort of way like so many other gritty dramas. Even the lead-up is chilling. Crazed laughter is such a cliche that it's really hard to make it scary anymore, but that scene sends chills down my spin every time I watch it. The way he just suddenly shudders and jerks around screaming for a moment before sinking into hysterics is just so disturbing.
