Pessl legitimately got her Jessica Fletcher on in Special Topics in Calamity Physics.  I thought she would toss the mystery out the window and make it a wallflower coming-of-age story, but she was true to her central mystery as well as her characters.

I always hated Stark, but wanted to give him another chance with this rewatch. Unfortunately, in this episode when he reprises his "Your side, my side!" from the previous season, I realized the callback was supposed to work on charm alone, and I remained completely uncharmed.

Max von Sydow as Pele is a bold casting choice.  I can already hear him saying Pele's immortal lines: "To be king of your kitchen, use Crestfield wax paper."

Ol' Dowdie makes dire dad jokes and dwells on nitpicks.  His reviews don't communicate enough about the films, and that makes them useless to me, even though he's never unfair.

What about a Thunderball?  That's still exciting, right?
