Fun! I'll come back to this thread later, but I had to comment immediately because I think Robert was one of the worst miscast characters of the adaptation. Not a whiff of the physically intimidating, larger-than-life presence he is in the book. I mean, the dude went into battle swinging a giant sledgehammer and had,

Ha, yeah, Purefoy is sort of the British Thomas Jayne, or vice versa. Totally. We both must have responded to something in the text. It's been a little while since I read it, but I remember an affability about Mance that blends with his physicality and shiftiness. What an awesome character.

I'll second your nerdy sentiment. So much of fantasy visuals and effects come down to questions of taste; creating an immersive reality while mixing the familiar with the unfamiliar, tweaking our expectations, playing with convention, combining odd influences in novel ways (this is the main why Star Wars and Buffy are

In my head Mance was always Thomas Jayne. I have no idea why.
Tom Hiddleson (Loki) might be a good Ramsay.

Excellent list, building to the last one, which left the most satisfying and vivid image in my mind.

I'll be sure to stay off your shit list.

Holy Crap, Joe, thank you. And the cartoon sounds better than I remember. I do remember learning about Ragnarok from it. And there's Clthulhu mythos, too? Pretty sweet for a cartoon competing with Gi-Joe and Care Bears

Yeah, he's a BEAR from BEAR ISLAND. GRRM is not so subtle in his descriptions.  If he was gay, guess what kind of gay he would be? Old Bear was well-cast, I think. Seems like he's got the hairy shoulders, permanent man sweater goin on.

Yeah, I can live with it.
