I'd go with J Dilla's "Stepson of the Clapper" as my walk-up song, in part because unlike most other choices, I'd have the opportunity to play the whole song.

To me, the appeal of Les Savy Fav lies in their ability to have really intricate and intelligent lyrics presented in a punk fashion. They excel at creating really specific worlds in three minutes or less; I had no idea what a palimpsest was until I heard them. Their best quality, in my opinion, was the lack of…
Probably the only thing I miss about CDs was that some artists would hide a bonus EP behind a sleeve. I bought Spoon's "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" and had it for two years before I found the bonus disc! Anyway, Broken Social Scene had one for this album, called To Be You and Me, and the last track on it, "Feel Good Lost…
I'd go with Nichijou. It's some of the most absurd humor I've ever come across, so if you like it, it's possible we're on the same comedic wavelength.
It's interesting that you draw the Cage parallel - there was just a Grantland article on him, and the writer mentioned that Cage has been in more good movies in the last ten years than…..Johnny Depp. Granted, with Cage, you can make a "thousand monkeys at a thousand typewriters" argument here, but outside of Rango,…
Agreed. One of the best moments in "Suspiria" is when the one character falls into the room full of razor-sharp wires. No explanation of why it was there. That wire is just chillin'.
I think you bring up a good point about Pharoah. His Stephen A. Smith is absolutely on point, but the audience never seems to get into it. It's a shame; it's one of his best impressions.
I recently saw Hard Eight for the first time, and even in one of the smallest roles, he showed a controlled menace and was able to stand toe to toe with Philip Baker Hall. He was truly one of the best actors of our generation.
The way I've always viewed it is that Abed has such a laser focus on pop culture characters and cliches that Annie can't help but fall in love with it. Annie is set on marrying a prince charming type, something that only exists in a fantasy, or something only someone like Abed would be able to replicate.
Definitely agree with O'Neal's list the most, just surprised he left off Cupid's Head by The Field; "No. No…" is one of the best tracks I've heard all year.
Not sure how many of you guys listen to the How Did This Get Made podcast, but they just eviscerated Season of the Witch:
Yeah, the Friday the 13ths are trashy, but in an entertaining way. The Halloween series, especially 4-6, get caught up in mythology that both doesn't make sense and is at the same time boring and listless. Every time AMC runs a marathon of the Friday the 13th movies, I stick around for at least five minutes, no matter…
A scene I haven't seen much talk about is right before the machine gun springs from the trunk. Walt is appealing to Uncle Jack's pride, saying that Jesse is his partner and that Uncle Jack hasn't kept his word. In a sense though, Walt is facing down his own pride; if the positions were switched, even a season ago,…
As much as I like Archer, I will always prefer Frisky Dingo. One of my favorite shows ever.
My favorite KOTH moment is probably from the episode when Hank's sperm count was low. The guy at the guitar shop asked Hank if he knew the song Peaches by The Presidents of the United States of America, and Hank just breaks right into it; one of the last bands I would ever expect Hank to listen to or know about.
I remember hearing this in a Saturn commercial and picked up the album on a whim. Thanks, Saturn; you made terrible cars but you also introduced me to The Walkmen.
I refuse to ever watch Avatar because James Cameron doesn't deserve my money anymore.
At first I wasn't feeling how ditzy Jess was acting around Nick because it's been done a million times before on other shows, but then I realized that in this case, it's actually really true to Jess' character. Good on ya, New Girl.
Burial works with some similar aesthetics; how much you like Burial is probably a good clue into how much you would like this. I would suggest starting with Stott's 2011 EP Passed Me By; it's a bit of an easier listen (of course both are fantastic).
The second I heard that Skrillex song, this immediately popped into my mind:
