He was the best part of Hit and Run aside from cars smashing each other, but that isn't saying much. And by "best," I mean most floridly absurd.

Oh, I don't know. He was reasonably funny in the scene where he whined about getting buttfucked in Hit and Run.

Walt has been keeping up the Heisenberg facade almost continuously these days, but when he killed Mike out of anger, that wasn't cold, rational Heisenberg. That was the egomaniac who invented him, who is also the person we once knew as decent, ethical Walt who could not bring himself to kill Krazy 8 in cold blood.

Noble, no. But he seems to be consistent and have a code, and characters who "have a code" and no illusions … tend to end up likable. Walt is a loose cannon. He's code unknown.

Hah, yeah. My colleague in podunk film reviewing let me review Magic Mike because he didn't realize it was Soderbergh and didn't want anything to do with that movie that was advertised as being a wankfest for ladies, even though he loved The Girlfriend Experience.

Seems like they made the group events [insert innuendo] happen. I haven't seen a girls' night out crowd that large since the first Sex and the City movie, and before sundown on a gorgeous Saturday, yet. They even cheered when McConaughey appeared at the opening. This is not a town where movies sell out, so I wasn't

I am one of those people. I hate Sorkin dialogue and the past decade of Woody Allen dialogue, because I feel like my dad is lecturing me, and that's not entertainment. I like Whedon dialogue and love Deadwood dialogue. Go figure.

That review is hilariously scathing. It's a case study in how to do a take-down. I can see why the author and agent were miffed, though not why they chose to express their displeasure on Twitter.

I read that when I was about 12. Still remember what a gut-punch the ending was.

I love Diana Wynne Jones so much. That woman could write. And she was big in Japan!

That's a good point. As a critic, I do try to address the basic "Did I laugh" question. Thing is, I just didn't find Wanderlust very funny. Or Hot Rod. I liked all the people involved, but I wasn't laughing. And I like some pretty silly comedy (loved Anchorman).

Not worth it for Tom Cruise. But the scenes with him and Malin Akerman are among the funnier parts of the movie.
