As a longtime reader and Snicket scholar, I'm curious how first-time viewers are piecing together the clues that have been added to the show. So far, it seems to mostly result in questions of "How come these super-competent spies keep failing" style questions — but like you point out, VFD isn't super-competent.

The archetypal fool is the one who holds up the mirror to reveal we are all fools.

It's also worth noting that while the VFD has many noble members, they're imperfect. S. Theodora Markson and the schism are notable examples.

A million mushrooms fill the field
Where marchers' bodies lately fell
More marchers marching, heavy heeled
Release more spores that march as well

This is the most polarizing video I've seen all day.

I started with The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle in high school, and everything written before that point clicked with me. Everything written after ~2000 (barring "Super Frog Saves Tokyo") has been diminishing returns.

Any chance of getting a mariachi band this year?

Simon & Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence

Kraftwerk - The Robots

I watched Chess in Concert for the first time a few nights ago. Recommended.

I would like to deposit a pizza.

Shrek memes are ogrerated.

I do the same thing now. Luckily, I have access to cheap copies now!

Short-sighted capitalists? Why, I never!

Fantagraphics' Moomin collection may fit the bill. It's a collection of newspaper strips, so it's as accessible as Peanuts. There's a fancy omnibus that contains all of the original author's strips, as well as smaller hardcover volumes running from the strip's start into her brother's years.

I haven't read a lot of Fantastic Four, but I agree with you. She seems less like a character and more like a plot device.

Everyone in this thread needs to paws and reflect on what they've done.

Has anyone commented yet about how the title sounds like "I love dogs"?

I've only read the first Moon Girl trade, but Lunella reminds me of a lot of children who I've met in TaG classes and at Smart Kid Camp: focused brilliance, but unwilling to suffer fools. Marvel has a lot of arrogant super-scientists, but it feels different coming from a younger character.

Internet wags have described it as "Star Wars with more sex." Haters have described it as "Romeo and Juliet soap opera with modern curse words and spaceships and stuff."
