Rachel Maddow did an excellent piece covering this in her Friday show
The performances were across-the-board incredible, but it was Bob Odenkirk’s slow-motion moral crisis that held the center
I wish they'd posted a space for us to comment on the episode right after and then come back with the review later, much like they've done with GoT.
I'm looking forward to see if AV Club can make any kind of coherent review on that episode of Twin Peaks tonight.
and not a pervy one though
Oh, I got that read, too, but still, the bulk of it is so negative the grade becomes a pointless exercise. I don't know that I found this episode "successful" at all.
Selflessly? Jimmy doesn't do anything selflessly. There was always the secret hope that Chuck would get his 17 million "severance package" and then repay his dear little brother for all of his kindness, which is why Jimmy fought Hamlin to begin with. I just found it telling in the finale that Jimmy couldn't even give…
I think I agree with much of Zack's review, but I do find the review itself is very much at odds with the grade given. I did not consider this episode an A-. The ending felt like a big wank to me and absolutely something we've seen before. And I was really enjoying the season, too.
No, I don't think he's the devil, and of course he didn't expect that the other women would hold on to that grudge, but that's part of Jimmy's problem. He never thinks about the fallout because he's too busy scheming (which are so elaborate at this point they are becoming a bit unbelievable). However, the lack of ill…
It was big of him to attempt to reverse the shitty thing that he did?
Well, Twin Peaks really delivered tonight!
This has also been my take, re: Emmit sending them the real books to finally get Varga out of his life.
I picked up on that right away, too.
Boy, Hawley really does love using the Droste effect with mirrors, doesn't he?
Naw, I want you to fuck it!
I've seen many comments pitting Chuck as the Walter to Jimmy's Jesse, which I never found accurate at all (Chuck was the Skyler, Jimmy was the Walter in nebbish mode). But tonight, I did see a lot of Walter in Chuck to Howard's Jesse dynamic.
I kind of side with Chuck on that one. It's his firm and he's being put out to pasture just when he finally feels like his old self is coming back. Of course he's going to react strongly. He's had his back against the wall for a while now and is still in fight or flight mode. As much as I love Howard, I'd say he…
It's already done, dude.
I would say it was heavily implied, especially in their meet-up at Loyola's.
